Living La Vida Dolce in Italia

Italy is a country that offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. From the ancient ruins of Rome to the picturesque canals of Venice, there is something for everyone in Italy. Whether you're interested in art, food, or simply soaking up the Mediterranean sun, Italy is a destination that should be on everyone's travel list.

From the cobblestone streets of ancient Rome to the serene waters of the Amalfi Coast, Italy offers visitors history, culture, and unparalleled beauty. Plus - GELATO!

When a guest contacts me with a request to visit Italy, the first task is narrowing down where they want to visit. Italy is a huge country, offering everything from cities to villages and mountains to beaches. A classic itinerary would be Rome, Florence and Venice. But, you may also choose to visit the Amalfi coast or Cinque Terre or wander off the beaten path to smaller towns throughout the country.

**When you contact Trips by Mary, I will help you select an itinerary that best meets your interests and budget.

Rome, the Eternal City, stands as a testament to the endurance of time. As you wander through the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Pantheon, you are surrounded by the echoes of gladiatorial clashes, political intrigue, and architectural marvels that have withstood the test of millennia. The juxtaposition of ancient ruins against a backdrop of modern life creates a unique atmosphere where the past and present coexist harmoniously.

Venturing beyond Rome, the artistic heart of Florence beckons with its Renaissance treasures. The Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia showcase masterpieces by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Botticelli, inviting you to connect with the genius of the past. Strolling through the charming streets of Florence, you'll find inspiration in every corner, from the imposing Florence Cathedral to the quaint Ponte Vecchio spanning the Arno River. Consider venturing out of the city into the Tuscan countryside for a wine tasting, olive oil tasting or just to see the beautiful views.

In Venice, learn about their unique form of government at the Duomo. Sip espresso at one of the many cafes or sample cicchetti like a local.

The Amalfi Coast, a picturesque stretch along the Tyrrhenian Sea, unveils a coastal paradise where sheer cliffs adorned with pastel-hued villages plunge into the azure waters below. Each step along the winding coastal roads reveals breathtaking vistas, and each seaside town, from Positano to Amalfi, holds its own unique charm. The Amalfi Coast is a testament to nature's artistry and humanity's ability to create beauty in even the most challenging terrain.

Italy's islands, such as Sicily and Sardinia, offer a different facet of the country's allure. From the historic ruins of Sicily, such as the Valley of the Temples, to the pristine beaches of Sardinia, these islands showcase Italy's diverse landscapes and cultural influences.

What budget do I need for a trip to Italy?

For a week long trip, exploring some top destinations in Italy, I recommend a budget of $5000 per person.

How much time should I plan for my trip?

Any trip to Europe from the United States should be at least 8 days. You need to consider that you will spend at least 2 days traveling. So you want to have enough days in-destination to make the trip enjoyable.

How many cities can I see on my trip?

For a one week trip to Italy, I recommend planning no more than three cities. To make the most of your time, you may consider joining a guided trip. The guides can help you streamline your visit so that you can see the most in your time.
