Epcot IS for Kids. Here's Why.

As a Travel Advisor, I hear this quite often from my guests, "Epcot doesn't really have anything for kids, right?" To that, I say, WRONG! Epcot absolutely has a LOT for kids. Read on to learn why I think Epcot is an awesome park for young and old alike!

As you enter Epcot from the main entrance, you immediately see that huge geodesic ball that houses Spaceship Earth. What a fun, recognizable icon! Have you ridden Spaceship Earth? We ride it almost every time we visit Epcot. Some of my favorite Epcot moments are from that attraction. Like, who can forget, "Thank the Phoenicians?"

And, now, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort, Spaceship Earth will become a Beacon of Magic with all new lights.

In fact, from Spaceship Earth, heading to the right, you will encounter 7 attractions PERFECT for kiddos. (PRO TIP: only two of these have a height requirement.)

  1. Spaceship Earth - classic, Disney dark ride with some fun scenes and a little history lesson.

  2. Finding Nemo & Friends

  3. Turtle Talk with Crush

  4. Living with the Land

  5. Soarin'(40" height requirement)

  6. Imagination

  7. Pixar Short Film Festival

And a bonus, the HUGE aquarium called SeaBase housed inside The Living Seas. Have you met the two rescue beluga whales there?

Plus, across the park you have the awesome ride Test Track(40" height requirement)! Build and test drive your own car. Compete with your friends and family to see who does the best job.

Next up, World Showcase. Now, a lot of folks will tell me that this part of the park is all "dining and shopping." I get it. It seems like a snoozefest for the littles. BUT, I promise you, there are a lot of points of interest for them (or, a nap in a stroller is never a bad thing, right?)

First, we have several super fun attractions in World Showcase:

  1. Frozen Ever After in Norway

  2. Gran Fiesta Tour in Mexico with Donald Duck himself!

  3. Remy's Ratatouille Adventure (opening October 1) in France

  4. Beauty & The Beast Singalong in France

In addition, there are all of the secondary points of interest:

  1. The koi pond in Japan (picture below. Enjoy a Kakigōri or shave ice while watching these beautiful fish swim around)

  2. Watch the model train display in Germany

  3. Explore the kawaii museum in Japan featuring some favorite characters like Hello Kitty and Tom Nook from Animal Crossing

  4. Back in Future World, you will also find a playground near the new Creations Shop.

On to shopping and eating:

Definitely check out Mitsukoshi in the Japan pavilion where you will find tons of merch with favorite characters like Nintendo's Mario and Luigi, Tom Nook and Isabel PLUS Pokémon, Hello Kitty and more!

For dining, my kids always enjoyed trying items from the various Festival booths or a pastry from Les Halles in France, Schoolbread in Norway or a plate of nachos in Mexico.

Then there are the Festivals:

Epcot International Festival of the Arts takes place mid-January to February

Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival takes place in Spring

Epcot International Food & Wine Festival take place more in the Fall

Epcot International Festival of the Holidays takes place over the Thanksgiving / Christmas/ Hannukah / New Years

Each of these has activities for kids, like the Butterfly house for Flower & Garden or

the scavenger hunts. These have themes that match the Festival and are usually around $8 to participate with eight to twelve or so hidden items to find. Turn in your completed map and get a prize. Fun for the whole family.

Finally, there are the KidCot stations located in every World Showcase pavilion. Collect a postcard from each country, fill it out and mail it or just color and collect.

To top off your day at Epcot, make sure you grab a spot to watch the all new nighttime spectacular, "Harmonious!" Watch the World Come Together with Disney music and stories, This nightly show takes place on World Showcase Lagoon starting on October 1, 2021.

There you have it! All of my reasons to make sure you include at least one day at Disney's Epcot on your next trip to Walt Disney World Resort!
