Top 5 Walt Disney World Tips for the New Magic

No doubt Walt Disney World has changed since reopening. Some changes are positive and some may feel less magical. You can STILL have a magical, amazing visit though.

Here are my Top 5 Tips for Enjoying Walt Disney World in 2021.

1. Enjoy going with the flow. With no Fast Passes or Dining Plan credits to worry about, my trips since reopening have been more spontaneous. I have been able to just roam around and enjoy what I was doing without so much of a schedule.

2. Plan a sit down meal once a day. While it's nice not to be too tied down, I still recommend making a reservation for a Table Service meal once a day. It gives you a chance to relax a bit and enjoy a nicer meal. *Remember, dining reservations are now made 60 days in advance.

3. Watch for Character Cavalcades. These mini-parades occur throughout each day in every park. They are unscheduled but seem to be every 15-20 minutes down Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom, around World Showcase in Epcot, down Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood Studios and aboard boats on the water in Animal Kingdom! (The Animal Kingdom boats move FAST! You have to be quick to spot the characters and musicians aboard.)

4. Look all around! You may spot a favorite character or two in unexpected locations. I have seen Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh and friends on the porch at Crystal Palace, Country Bears on the porch above their theatre, Princesses on the Main Street train station platform. Again, you can slow down and spend some time waving and talking to them. I have also seen the Dapper Dans perform on the train platform.

5. Let it go. That's right. Elsa had the right idea. Let go of the old expectations and you will be much happier. A little shift in your thinking from "I am missing x,y and z" to "I am enjoying a,b and c" is going to make it easier to handle the changes. I understand we are all sad that there aren't any nighttime spectaculars and we can't hug Mickey right now. But try to focus on the positives.
